How do I change my login password and e-mail address?
Log in to the site and click "My Settings" in the box in the top right hand corner. You can change all details to do with your profile here (name, email address, picture, etcetera), as well as your privacy settings.

How can I add more things to "My Page" - like videos, links or a picture?
You can do all this from your profile page (“My Page”).

What if I want to leave overthescene.com?
Obviously we hope you never will. But should you want to delete your profile, you can do this very easily. Go to the "My Settings" link in the top right hand box. Scroll to the bottom of this page and you'll see a link that says "Leave overthescene.com".

Photos & Pictures Help

How do I upload photos to my account?
STEP 1 - Click the "Photos" tab and then click on "Add Photos" towards the top right of the screen.
STEP 2 - Wait a few moments for the bulk uploader to install. You may see an orange box appear with the words "Java". This is normal and will only happen once during each session.
STEP 3 - Navigate your computer's files on the left until you locate where you have stored your photos. You can then drag and drop each photo in to the right hand box.
STEP 4 - Once you've "dropped" all the photos you want into the right hand box, click "Next" and you will be able to give each photo a title and description. You can also determine here who is allowed to see your photos. (i.e. all members of overthescene.com or just your friends).
PLEASE NOTE: If you have difficulty with the bulk photo uploader (i.e. you can't find you photos on your PC), you can use thesimple uploader instead. Click on the link that says "Return to our simple uploader" which is located at the bottom of the drag and drop window.

When I click "Add Photos" nothing happens or I get logged out of the site
If you are unable to even get to the "Add Photos" screen (i.e. you click the "Add Photos" link but the page never loads or you are logged out of the site), it is more than likely an issue with something called Java on your computer.
You will need to install the latest version of Java. It takes up very little memory and you can download it for free. Just visitwww.java.com and look for the free download.

What are albums and how do I use them?
Think of albums as filing 'cabinets' for your pictures. As such, you need to upload some photos to your account first, before you can have something to file. As you start to add more and more photos it makes more sense to organize them in albums - especially if you want to share a group of related pictures with your friends.

Can I post adult/x-rated photos?
No, you can't. There are enough websites out there where you can - please keep this website free from adult material.

Privacy Settings Help

How do I control who can see/comment on my pictures and blog entries?
Log into the site and click on "My Settings" in the top right hand box. Pick "Privacy" from the list on the left hand side. You can now check or uncheck the boxes according to what you want to keep private and to what extend.
You can override these default settings for individual pictures - so for example, if you set all pictures to by visible to "anyone" you can set an individual picture (by clicking on it in "My Photos") to be visible only to you or your friends.
PLEASE NOTE: If you set a picture(s) to be private, it will still show up in the "Photos” section, but only to you. In other words, although you can see them in the main picture gallery, other members cannot.

Can I check and vet comments before they appear next to my pictures and blog entries?
Yes, you can choose to review comments first. This is done from the "Privacy" link under "My Settings".

Can I block other members from sending me messages?
You can block messages from friends with the click of a button. However, if you have reason to block their messages it may be worth simply removing them as a friend. To block messages, click on the friends icon in the very top left hand corner of any page. Click on the member that you want to block and click "Block messages from this user" underneath their profile picture. You can also remove them as a friend from here, too.

E-Mail & Messages Help

How do I determine what e-mail notifications I receive?
Log in to the site and click on "My Setting" in the top right hand box. Click "E-mail" from the list on the left hand side. You can now check or uncheck the boxes according to what e-mail alerts you do and don't want to receive. If you don't want to receive ANY e-mail, check the box at the very bottom.
PLEASE NOTE: This won't prevent you from receiving private messages from within your account - it just stops the e-mail alerts when something happens in your account.

How do I send private messages to other members?
You can only send a private message to someone in your network of friends. To add someone as a friend click on a member's profile. Underneath their photo on the left you'll see an "Add as Friend" icon. Clicking on this will send a friend request.
To send a friend a private message, click on the "Send Message" link underneath their profile photo, on their profile page.
You can manage all of your private messages by clicking on the envelope icon in the very top left of your screen.

Can I block other members from sending me messages?
You can block private messages from friends with the click of a button. However, if you have reason to block their messages it may be worth simply removing them as a friend. To block messages, click on the friends icon in the very top left hand corner of any page. Click on the member that you want to block and click "Block messages from this user" underneath their profile picture. You can also remove them as a friend from here, too.

Friends Help

How do I make a friend request?
To add someone as a friend click on a member's profile. Underneath their photo on the left you'll see an "Add as Friend" icon. Clicking on this will send them a friend request. Similarly, other members can request you as a friend. You know you have new friend requests when the 'friend icon' in the very top left of the screen appears in colour.

Where do my friends show up?
You can get to your friends using the 'friends icon' in the very top left of your screen. This is the best option if you just want to see an overview of who your friends are or to remove someone as a friend.
However, if you want to send a message to a friend or if you want to go to their profile, you need to click on "My Friends" on your profile page ("My Page").
From this page you can click on any member to see their profile and send them a private message, post a comment on their wall, etcetera.

Can I send a single message to all my friends at once?
Yes you can! To do this go to "My Friends" from your profile page ("My Page"). From here, scroll to the bottom of the page, beneath the member profile photos, and you will see a link "Send Message to Friends". Click this, type your message and it will go out to all your friends at once.

How do I remove someone as a friend?
Simply click the 'friends icon' at the very top left of your screen. Find the member you want to remove and click "Remove" under their profile picture.

Groups Help

How do I set up a group and why would I want to?
Setting up a group is very easy. Simply go to the "Groups" tab and click "Create a Group". You can then choose various settings for your group such as who can join, whether you want a forum and/or comment wall and so on.
What might be less obvious is why you would want to start a group in the first place. A group simply links people together - people who have the same special interest, for example, or people who live in the same area. For example, you might want to start a group for people that are interested in adoption. This way, you can easo;u set up your own forum to discuss this topic with people that share this interest.
Or, let's say, you want to start a group for people to meet locally and do fun stuff together over the weekend. Setting up a local group will make it easier to attract the right people (by inviting them to your group) and makes it very easy to communicate with the other members.

How do I contact everyone in my group at once?
The group founder can decide whether other members can send a message to everyone in the group in one go. Regardless of this, you can always contact individual group members by going to their profile pages and sending them a private message.
If the group founder allows members to e-mail all group members with one single message, you'll see a link "Send Message to Group" on the right of the group description. Simply click that link and type in your message for the entire group.

Blogs Help

How do I set up a blog and why would I want to?
A blog is an online journal or diary. But unlike a regular diary, you can add pictures, videos, widgets and other media.
Similar to making regular entries to a journal, you also make regular entries to a blog. This could be as often as once a day or as infrequently as once a month, or, like most people, you can just make entries when you feel like it.
Why start a blog?
Use your blog to share your thoughts and tips with the world. Maybe you've gotten excited about recent news stories and would like to give your point of view. Or perhaps you have just started a trip around the world and would like to share the best 'gay destinations' with members of overthescene.com.
Here's how you start a blog of your own:
STEP 1 - Go to your profile page (“My Page”) and click "My Blog".
STEP 2 - Click "Add New Blog Post" in the top right hand corner.
STEP 3 - Give your blog entry a title and add your copy. You can format your text, add pictures, add links and attach files to your post. It is also a good idea to add relevant 'tags' to make it easier for other members to find the information they are looking for.
STEP 4 - Choose when you want to publish your blog entry (either right away or at a future date) and set who can view it.
STEP 5 - If you now click on the "My Page" tab to get to your profile and then click "My Blog", you'll see the title of your blog entry. You can edit it at any time and to the right you'll see a "Monthly Archives" box where all of your blog entries will be stored in date order.

How do I add pictures to my blog entries?
When you are adding a new blog entry you'll see a series of icons. Click the picture icon and you can choose to either upload a picture from your PC or paste the URL of an image that's already hosted somewhere online.

Can I add videos to my blog entries?
Absolutely, and it's very easy. You can add a video from YouTube or any other video sharing site. You can also upload video files from you PC in a similar way as uploading pictures (see the relevant information above on how to upload photos).
To do the former, simply go to YouTube and find the video you want. To the right you'll see a box with some embed code in it. Simply copy and paste this into your blog entry and presto, the video will appear.

How do I let other members know about my blog and new blog entries?
If you start a blog (assuming you want to share it), it's a good idea to let other people know about it, for example by sending out a message to your friends. New blogs will also be posted on the homepage and remain there until newer blog posts 'push them off'. People will be able to find your blog by visiting your profile page and then clicking on "Blog".

How do I add links to my blog entries?
When you are adding a new blog entry, click the link icon and a box will pop up asking you to enter the web address (URL) of the page or site you want to link to.
